A pre-engineered steel stair stringer bears on a thickened concrete slab at the base connection. The assembly features a minimum 1/2-inch thick bearing plate secured by two 5/8-inch diameter expansion anchors with a 4-inch minimum embedment into the concrete. The concrete slab is thickened to 8 inches and extends 1 foot beyond the center of the stringer, reinforced with two continuous #5 bars with 3 inches of clearance. The stair stringer incorporates a 3/8-inch end plate matched to the stringer flange with ground smooth corners, supporting fourteen-gauge minimum bent plate pan treads with concrete infill.
