The brace connects to a one-half inch thick A572 Grade 50 gusset plate slotted one-eighth inch maximum wider than the gusset plate thickness. A three-quarter inch by six inch bearing plate with seven-eighths inch diameter A325 bolts at standard gauge supports the connection. The structural steel beam connects via a full depth shear plate. Fillet welds of five-sixteenths inch and one-quarter inch size secure the gusset plate and framing members.
