A beam to column flange connection occurs at the top of a steel column. The assembly incorporates a cap plate at the top of the column with a thickness specified as the greater of TF1 plus one-quarter inch or TF2 plus one-quarter inch, with a one-inch minimum. Continuity plates are specified with a thickness matching the larger of TF1 or TF2. Beams connect to the column flanges using typical shear tabs where required, welded at the top and bottom flanges.
