A buckling-restrained brace connects to a gusset plate welded to a steel column and beam stub assembly. A three-eighths-inch plate with eight seven-eighths-inch-diameter A325N bolts connects the beam stub to the main steel beam with a one-half-inch gap. Flanges and web weld to the column with five-eighths-inch welds. Continuity plates are provided at the column flange when stiffener plates are not required by the manufacturer.
