A structural steel beam supports a metal deck floor assembly featuring a framed opening bordered by structural angles sized 6 inches by 3-1/2 inches by 5/16 inches or a bent plate. Two number 5 reinforcing bars extend 2 feet 0 inches beyond the edge of the opening on all four sides, supplemented by one number 5 by 4 feet 0 inch diagonal bar at each corner. An angle sized 5 inches by 3-1/2 inches by 3/8 inches is provided at each end, along with a typical 6 inch by 4 inch by 5/16 inch angle. Field welds and deck welding are specified in accordance with the floor framing plan.
