A structural steel post connects to a beam per plan using a three-eighths-inch thick vertical plate welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Spreader beams are attached using three-eighths by four-inch plates with two three-quarter-inch diameter through bolts. A maximum one-half-inch gap is maintained between the connected steel elements. The assembly aligns with centerlines of beams and is set to elevations specified per plan.
