Concrete shear walls require specific reinforcement configurations at wall thickness transitions and wall openings. Vertical reinforcement steps at offsets up to six inches with a minimum one and a half inch and maximum four inch dimension, utilizing dowels matching the vertical reinforcement size and spacing above with a hooked vertical bar at the top of the wall where slabs occur. Wall openings feature U-bars matching adjacent vertical bar sizes and spacing, with vertical reinforcement extended to the edge of the opening and coupling beam extents reinforced per coupling beam details.
