A pipe sleeve fits tight with the guardrail and is embedded into a reinforced concrete slab and stem wall assembly. The six-inch concrete slab is reinforced with number three bars at eighteen inches on center each way, transitioning into an eight-inch thick stem wall with a ten-inch width. A quarter-inch by three-inch by three-inch plate is welded to the sleeve near the bottom, and the annulus is filled with non-shrink grout. The stem wall is reinforced with number four bars at eighteen inches on center and continuous number four bars at twelve inches on center, maintaining three inches of clearance typical. A handrail extends upward, detailed per architectural drawings.
