A steel beam connects to a column per plan using a half-inch steel plate on each side of the column. Two half-inch diameter A325 bolts in vertical long-slotted holes secure the connection, providing adjustability. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds attach the plates to the beam web on three sides. The layout specifies a minimum twelve-inch vertical plate dimension with a six-inch bolt spacing and a ten-inch maximum projection.
