Connecting wide-flange beams frame into the flange of a wide-flange column using bolted shear plates and a cap plate. The cap plate thickness matches the column flange with a one-half-inch minimum. Shear plates feature thickness "T" per schedule and are attached with high-strength bolts in quantity "Q" per schedule, typically. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the connection on three sides of the web on each side, with weld sizes otherwise per schedule. Additional WF beams and connections are omitted where they occur for clarity.
