Pipes running parallel to or beneath foundation footings require protective sleeves and concrete encasement to maintain structural integrity. A sleeve with an inside diameter four inches greater than the outside diameter of the pipe is placed prior to pouring the footing. Three thousand PSI concrete fill is placed around the sleeve matching the width of the footing. Footings must be stepped so as not to exceed three feet in depth, and trenches running parallel must stay above the specified line. No pipes are allowed to pass through the footing unless otherwise noted.
