A pipe sleeve penetrates a reinforced concrete grade beam with added shear stirrups placed on each side of the sleeve. The maximum sleeve size is eight inches or depth divided by four, whichever is smaller, maintaining a minimum half-inch gap between the sleeve and pipe or as stated in the geotechnical report. Two shear stirrups are added on each side of the sleeve within a distance of depth divided by three, starting within four inches maximum from the sleeve. Additional details are required where the sleeve occurs outside the middle half of the grade beam.
