An HSS 6x4 elevator separator beam connects to steel framing using an L8x6x1/2 angle cut to fit with a two-inch minimum clearance unless noted otherwise. The angle is welded to the supporting steel member with a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. The hollow structural section connects to the angle using a one-quarter-inch fillet weld with a three-inch minimum length.
