A Type Z wide-flange truss splice connection joins a vertical wide-flange member to a chord member with intersecting double-angle truss diagonals. The connection utilizes a 1-1/4 inch thick gusset plate welded with 5/16 inch fillet welds to the members. Flange plates match the width and thickness of the incoming wide-flange member flange, secured with bolts and plates per the Type Z splice schedule. Three-eighths inch welds are specified at the flange plates typical on three sides. A minimum clearance of 5 inches is maintained between intersecting elements.
