A wide-flange framing beam connects to the flange of a supporting wide-flange structural steel column using a single-plate shear connection. The shear tab plate is welded to the column flange and secured to the supported beam web with three structural bolts in a vertical line. The beam web is coped at the top flange to clear the connection plate and column flange.
