An angle or bent plate with a minimum three-eighths-inch thickness is provided to fit the depression for steps up to four inches, while larger steps utilize a wide-flange bolster located along the beam centerline. Continuous number four reinforcing bars spaced at twelve inches minimum are placed in the slab, featuring ninety-degree hook ends with a three-inch minimum clearance. Additional concrete fill is specified where the slab step is far from the beam edge, detailed with reinforcement sized per plan.
