A wide flange beam connects to a wide flange column using a shear connection sized per plan. Continuity plates match the thickness of the column flanges and are welded with a five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld to the column flanges. A stiffener plate of the same thickness as the continuity plate is provided on the opposite side of the column web. The continuity plate is coped to fit the column flange and extends one and one-half inches beyond the face.
