This connection details a stair hanger dropping from a structural steel beam running parallel to a metal deck floor system. A minimum one-quarter-inch stiffener plate is welded to the beam web to transfer eccentric stair loads. When the eccentricity exceeds one inch, the stair contractor provides a kicker assembly consisting of a minimum three-by-three by one-quarter-inch angle in full contact with the deck rib. The location of the assembly requires coordination with all trades prior to installation.
