Composite floor slab reinforcement requirements over a steel girder consist of number four bars for concrete thickness less than three inches or number five bars for thickness three inches or greater, centered over the girder at twelve inches on center. Continuous high chairs of Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute type CHCM support number three bars at each end with a six-inch minimum extension. Welded wire fabric is positioned to maintain a three-quarter inch clear cover from the top of the slab.
