Horizontal and vertical connections occur between framing beams and a hollow structural section column supporting concrete over metal deck floors. The horizontal support connection consists of an L 6x4x5/16 by 1'-6" maximum angle on each side of the hollow structural section, fastened with 3/4-inch diameter through bolts in 3-1/2-inch long vertical slotted holes required at each floor with a 1-inch gap. The vertical support connection uses an L 4x4x1/4 by 1'-6" maximum angle on each side of the hollow structural section with 3/4-inch diameter through bolts in standard holes required at every other floor minimum. Full depth stiffener plates measuring 1/4-inch are welded to each side of the beam and aligned with the angle, welded on three sides with 1/4-inch fillet welds. Concrete over metal deck with reinforcement occurs per plan, bearing against the structural framing.
