A hollow structural section post is welded to a base plate anchored into a concrete footing or floor slab. The assembly is secured using two three-quarter-inch diameter F1554 Grade 36 anchor rods with heavy hex nuts or rod heads embedded in the concrete. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connects the hollow structural section post to the base plate on all sides, with finished bearing surfaces provided at the column end and plate top. A one-inch minimum non-shrink grout layer is packed beneath the base plate, maintaining a one-and-a-half-inch minimum rod projection.
