These structural details illustrate steel beam connections designed to allow for one-inch deflection tolerance at exterior framing and cladding attachments. The assembly incorporates a hollow structural section parapet post extending above a steel beam supporting a metal deck oriented in either direction. A continuous one-quarter-inch by four-inch plate is welded to the steel beam with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds spaced at twelve inches. Bidder-designed exterior framing and cladding attachments feature track connections configured to accommodate structural movement.
