Structural steel ledger angles connect to supporting beams at four different relative elevations. Detail A positions a ledger angle above the beam top of steel, utilizing a L4x3x3/8 ledger angle with a quarter-inch thick gusset plate welded on two sides at forty-eight inches on center when dimension A is one inch or less. Detail B locates a ledger angle six inches or less below the beam top of steel, featuring a quarter-inch thick gusset plate spaced at forty-eight inches on center when the top flange thickness is half an inch or less, welded with three-sixteenths inch welds at twelve inches typical. Detail C and Detail D place ledger angles six inches or greater below the beam top of steel, welded with three-sixteenths inch welds at twelve inches typical. All configurations use L4x3x3/8 ledger angles with long leg vertical unless noted otherwise, and steel deck and concrete fill are omitted for clarity.
