Open web steel roof joists bear on the top flange of a wide flange support girder. Joist seats are secured with fillet welds: one-quarter inch by two and one-half inches for LH series joists and one-eighth inch by two and one-half inches for K series joists. Bolts are required for all joists with spans exceeding forty feet. The roof deck is installed over the joists, with size and attachment requirements referenced to the project schedule.
