A skewed beam-to-beam connection utilizes a hollow structural section member, base plate, U-rod, and full-depth web stiffeners on each side of the girder web. The assembly incorporates a 3/4" x 8" base plate welded with 5/16" and 1/4" fillet welds, connecting to a wide flange beam specified per plan. A 1" diameter A572 Grade 50 U-rod anchors through a square 1/2" x 6" plate atop an HSS4.000x.313 column. Plan views demonstrate framing geometries for both small and large skews relative to the girder bottom flange and web, governed by a design load of 5000 pounds under LRFD criteria.
