A masonry wall is centered on a wide-flange steel beam with a depth less than or equal to four feet six inches, maintaining a typical top-of-wall gap of three inches. An L6x3 1/2 x 5/16 by one-foot-long bent plate or similar detail at S2 connects the bond beam with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. An angle brace extends upward to connect to the beam with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A minimum two-inch clearance is maintained at the top of the wall.
