The steel tube stair stringer bears on a concrete slab on grade with a thickened footing, anchored via an L4x4x1/4 by six-inch long steel angle on the inside face beneath the first stair tread. A three-quarter-inch diameter screw type anchor secures the angle through a four-inch long by thirteen-sixteenths-inch diameter slotted hole at each stringer, complete with a plate washer and a quarter-inch thick steel closure plate. Separately, a structural steel tube connects to a steel column through an L8x8x1/2 by six-inch angle featuring a quarter-inch stiffener at the top and bottom of the tube, welded with three-sixteenths and quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides.
