A shallow structural steel beam frames into the web of a supporting steel beam using a 3/8-inch plate welded to the support with a 1/4-inch fillet weld. The shallow beam web connects to the plate with two 7/8-inch diameter Group A325 bolts spaced at 3-1/2 inches on center. A maximum 2-inch clearance is maintained at the top flange relative to the supporting beam.
