A 4-inch diameter perforated pipe is laid at the base of the foundation, oriented with holes down and sloped to drain. The pipe is embedded within Caltrans Class 2 permeable material or 3/4-inch to 1 1/2-inch clean durable coarse aggregate. Mirafi 140N or equivalent filter fabric lines the aggregate trench. A 1-foot depth of compacted impervious soil caps the top of the trench at the exterior.
