A wide-flange beam frames into a structural column utilizing complete-joint-penetration groove welds and bolted flange plates sized per standard connection types. Continuity plates matching typical bottom-flange details are welded across the column web between the beam flanges. A stiffener plate measuring 1 1/2 inches by 6 inches by 2 feet 6 inches is welded to the beam web with 5/16-inch fillet welds. Additional plate reinforcement measuring 3 3/4 inches by 15 1/4 inches is incorporated into the connection assembly.
