Shear studs of three-quarters of an inch diameter are welded along the top flange of the steel beam with studs spaced equally unless noted otherwise. The single stud row requires a minimum flange width of four and one-half inches with a maximum spacing of one foot zero inches. Edge distances measure one and one-half inches minimum from the stud center to the flange edge, and one-half inch minimum vertical clearance is maintained above the flange.
