New concrete foundations connect to existing concrete foundations using drilled and epoxied number five reinforcing bars measuring two feet six inches in length. The dowels are installed at both the top and bottom of the footing in quantities matching the existing footing reinforcement. The reinforcing shown is in addition to that required by other details. An eight-inch dimension marks the spacing from the interface.
