A cantilevered post connects to a structural steel column and beam assembly at a concrete-filled metal deck. The assembly features a seven-eighths inch thick cap plate provided at the top of the column and a post centered on the column per plan. Half-inch by ten-inch stiffener plates are provided on each side, omitted where a shear tab occurs. At concrete-filled decks, four number five reinforcing bars at six feet zero inches each way are added, with standard hooks provided at the slab edge where applicable. Welds are specified typically with three-eighths and one-half inch sizes.
