A C250x23 channel stair stringer is coped and closed at its base with an 8-millimeter thick closure plate, welded to a 16-millimeter thick embed plate sized to suit the channel. This upper connection rests on a hollow structural section post measuring 102x102x8.0 millimeters. The base of the HSS post is welded to a 600x200x16-millimeter thick galvanized steel base plate. The base plate is anchored to a cross-laminated timber panel using twelve PT_H 10x100 screws with sixty-millimeter minimum pre-drilled holes in the CLT.
