An independent masonry veneer angle lintel bears on a brick jamb, remaining structurally independent of the metal studs. The steel ledger angle is sized according to the span schedule, utilizing an L 6x4x3/8 (LLV) for spans up to 7'-0" and an L 6x4x1/2 (LLV) for spans between 7'-0" and 12'-6". A continuous 1/4" closure plate spans across the length of the opening where required per architectural documents. An eight-inch length of mortar is placed at each jamb over the flashing per architectural drawings. The hot-dip galvanized ledger supports the masonry veneer, set out from the sheathing and insulation over cold-formed steel framing.
