An untopped metal deck features a framed opening with a one-eighth inch fillet weld securing a 12 gauge plate around the perimeter. The plate extends to the center of the next high flute, maintaining a maximum one foot spacing and three-quarter inch typical clearance. Openings smaller than four inches square require no reinforcing, and multiple openings require a minimum of three feet of clearance between them. Deck welding is executed per standard specifications.
