A structural steel beam meeting a directional change features a one-half-inch stiffener plate on both sides. Complete joint penetration welds are applied at the beam web and flange. A quarter-inch fillet weld extends along three sides of the stiffener plate connection. The top of steel elevation is sized per plan.
