A structural steel column bears on a steel base plate set over non-shrink grout atop a concrete pier and footing. The concrete slab on grade features a blockout around the column that is poured solid after the steel column has been installed. Anchor bolts secure the base plate to the concrete pier with specified cover and vertical reinforcement. Three ties are provided in the top five inches of the concrete pier.
