Typical rebar placement around a concrete floor slab opening. Interrupted top and bottom slab reinforcing bars terminate with standard 180-degree hooks at the opening edges. One half of the interrupted bars are provided on each side of the opening at a maximum spacing of three inches on center. Diagonal corner reinforcement consists of one number five bar measuring six feet long placed at each corner centered in the slab. At slab edge locations, reinforcing bars hook into the opposite face of the supporting wall or beam.
