A structural steel column terminates at a steel base plate anchored into a cast-in-place concrete footing with hooked anchor bolts. A one-and-a-half-inch layer of non-shrink grout fills the space beneath the base plate. The surrounding concrete slab features a one-inch minimum thickened section separated from the footing by an isolation joint. The footing bears on structural fill with three inches of clear cover over bottom reinforcing steel.
