This plan section details an expansion joint in a concrete masonry unit wall utilizing sash blocks on each side of the joint. The joint is sealed with a backer rod and filled with sealant on each side. Vertical wall reinforcement is provided per the reinforcement schedule in the first cell on each side of the expansion joint. Horizontal wire reinforcement and horizontal bond beam reinforcement do not extend through the joint, except at floor and roof diaphragm levels.
