The steel joist bears onto the joist girder at the grid line. A three-eighths inch by three inch by one foot ASTM A36 steel tie plate is provided at the bearing point. The connection is secured with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld at four inches on center. A continuous three-by wood nailer, matching the width of the joist chord, is fastened through the top chord of the joist using two number fourteen wood screws at twenty-four inches on center. Roof sheathing is installed over the wood purlins and nailer as specified per plan.
