Structural steel framing and closure provisions for small openings through a metal roof deck up to one foot square. An uninterrupted metal deck spans across the support with a maximum one-foot square opening framed by L3x3x3/16 structural angles on two sides of the opening. Reinforcing angles are not required at openings six inches square and smaller. A deck supplier-provided sixteen gauge closure is installed all around the opening and welded to the deck. Typical fillet welds occur at every flute connecting the framing components.
