A built-up concrete slab is constructed over expanded polystyrene fill supported by an existing slab or deck. Number three adhesive anchors with four-inch embedment are spaced at twelve inches on center each way and require a pull test to 4,200 pounds at the perimeter. The interface features a one-quarter-inch amplitude roughened joint where the depth of the new concrete reaches six inches. A block-out provides a two-and-one-half-inch minimum depression with a scratch finish at the lower edge, tapering to a one-inch minimum edge condition. The top slab slopes as indicated on the architectural drawings.
