This assembly features a beam and a joist girder framing into a column, topped by a three-eighths inch cap plate and a three-quarter inch by six inch by three foot four inch strut plate. The beam connects to the column via a typical shear connection, while the joist girder rests on a seat composed of an L6x6x3/8 angle with a one-half inch stiffener plate. A one-inch clearance is maintained between the beam and the joist girder. A stabilizer plate is provided on the column web and is explicitly noted to be left unwelded to the column. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds are specified for the primary structural connections.
