A wide flange steel beam connects to a hollow structural section column at a skew using a bent plate sized per schedule. The bent plate welds to the hollow structural section column with a size equal to one-half the plate thickness plus one-sixteenth of an inch. A maximum one-inch clearance is maintained between the beam web and the column face. The top flange is omitted from the view for clarity.
