A steel beam connects to an open web steel joist girder using a five-sixteenth-inch by four-inch by required bent plate centered on the plate web. The bent plate is secured with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld applied to three sides. An additional one-quarter-inch fillet weld connects the assembly components.
