Cold-formed metal stud framing connects vertically via a continuous track matching the stud depth and gauge with a one and one-half inch flange unless noted otherwise. The upper and lower studs engage the continuous track with a vertical gap ranging from three-quarters of an inch minimum to one inch maximum. Fastening consists of two number ten screws spaced at sixteen inches on center through the upper track flange into the studs. Additional number ten screws secure each side of the continuous track to each stud at a quarter-inch minimum edge distance.
