A steel beam frames into a steel column with a steel cap plate sized per the column schedule. Beam web stiffeners or connection plates are attached to each side of the beam web. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size are specified typically around the connection assembly. The steel column and steel beam sizes are sized per plan and schedule. Note that the metal deck is omitted from this detail view.
