A buckling-restrained brace frames into a gusset plate welded to an existing W14x78 steel column encased in concrete, with an intersecting W14x22 beam framing into the column flange. Half-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column with five-sixteenths fillet welds on three sides typically. Concrete cover is chipped out for the repair to install the gusset plate at the work point. The brace connection is detailed with a gusset plate matching the buckling-restrained brace type specified on the plan.
